Origin[]
Yahrzeit candles are memorial candles used in the Jewish faith in memory of the dead. They are also used on Yom Kippur and Holocaust Remembrance Day. They are specially made to stay lit for up to 26 hours.
Effects[]
When a Yahrzeit candle is placed in the holder and lit, the user may summon the spirit of a passed loved one. While they are not true "ghosts", they are memories cobbled together with lingering energy and smoke. They are not the souls of the departed so much as a memory made solid. They know nothing of the afterlife. So long as the candle is lit the spirit can stay. The longest possible duration is 26 hours. The artifact can only be activated on the day the deceased died.
Collection[]
The artifact was tearfully collected from a Holocaust memorial site after the ghosts of her family that died in the Holocaust appeared before her. Despite the fact that the candle had to be collected, Jack and Rebecca were glad that the woman gained a little bit of closure by seeing her relatives again a she wished to remember them, happy and healthy.
