Origin[]

William Marshal, 1st Earl of Pembroke (c.1146 - 1219) also called William the Marshal, was an Anglo-Norman knight who served 5 English kings: Henry II, his sons the "Young King" Henry, Richard I, John, and John's son Henry III. He has been praised as the "best knight that ever lived".

All Kings of England, Great Britain and the United Kingdom since James VI and I have been descendants of William Marshal through his great-great-grandson Robert the Bruce.

Effects[]

When the sword is used to draw blood, it can create a person that will be devoted to, and have an inherent desire to protect, the one whose blood was drawn. This person will be similar in appearance to their charge, as if they were family.

History[]

In 1183, William the Marshal resolved to join the then-extant Knights Templar in place of the king he served, Henry the Young, who was unable to fulfill his desire to embark on a crusade due to illness. William requested that, when he died in 1219, his body would be entombed in the Temple Church of London, the Knights' English headquarters. His sword was buried with him.

This artifact was collected by agents Alexi Markusha and Selena Lomovtseva of Warehouse 11 in (TBA year), which instigated a fight between agents and the Brotherhood of the Black Diamond, a few of which had been tasked to guard William's sword. The brothers were defeated, and the sword was taken to the Warehouse.

The sword was used by the Regents and Caretaker of Warehouse 11 to create their personal bodyguards.

Beginning around 1811, Napoleon Bonaparte, who was preparing to invade Russia and gain control of the Warehouse, sent spies to Russia to observe the Regents and learn of their weaknesses. Learning of the sword's use, Bonaparte had his spies convince the Regents' bodyguards to turn on their charges, resulting in a majority of them being killed by the time he reached Moscow in late 1812.
