Origin[]
William Shakespeare, born in the mid-1500's, is widely regarded today as one of the great masters of playwrites and written word in general. His plays have not only survived countless adaptations and presentations, but have inspired several generations worth of young writers.
In his prime he had built The Globe Theatre in London in 1599. During a production of a performance of Henry VIII, a theatrical cannon misfired and set fire to some wooden beams and tatching. The flames, growing out of control, quickly burned the theatre to the ground. There were no casualties, and a second theatre was rebuilt on the spot a year later, but was closed down in 1642.
Seen in Allison Scagliotti's behind-the-scenes Dark Vault tour.
Effects[]
When the Chair is in close proximity to a certain number of people or a strong creative spirit, it will activate on its own. The 'actors' will find the area around them has taken on the qualities of a stage set. The stage itself looks exactly as the stage in The Globe theatre and the props would appear accordingly with the scene. The 'actors' would find themselves in period costume appropriate to their character.
If the Chair is not sufficiently amused at any point, or if the 'actors' don't play their parts, the set will quickly catch fire and immolate the unfortunate victims. At this point, the Chair will return the area to it's original state and dump the body or bodies nearby. If the play is concluded and the Chair is sufficiantly amused, it release the victims, unharmed.
Agents have noted that when the Chair is neared, faint sounds of applause can be heard. This become screaming after a few seconds.
Storage and Handling[]
Stored in the Dark Vault within a three foot neutralizer field.
This artifact is only allowed to be approached while wearing a full-body neutralizer suit, as this is the only way to prevent the effects from taking hold. If the neutralizer field is down, maintain a distance of more than ten feet from the artifact if travelling in a group or if you have a strong creative spirit. If this artifact has to be moved or transferred, place a heavy neutralizer cloth that covers the entire chair over it and move slowly. Do not place in any area that is not secured by an outside neutralizer field. When the neutralizer cloth is over the artifact, the field range of activation is three feet. Replace the cloth every few days as needed (yes, you must wear the full-body suit for this).
Trivia[]
- This artifact is one of the few in the Dark Vault where a full body neutralizer suit is necessary for handling. The other artifacts are Sylvia Plath's Typewriter, Laughing Moai, and Annabelle
