Origin[]
William Robinson was a prospector who traveled to California in search of riches. Instead of waiting for the blocked path of the Sierra Nevadas to open, he traveled farther south through the desert. His party became lost after a few weeks and wandered into Death Valley. As the story goes, Thompson died from overdrinking from a reservoir of cold water they found. A hiker later discovered his chest of personal effects in a cave, containing coins, photographs, pistol and hand written letters. Many who examined the goods quickly labeled them as fake, since most of the goods were too new to have existed in the 1840s.
Effects[]
Produces small amounts of gold. At first, it causes extreme dehydration and then causes death as if drinking too much water after dehydration.
