Origin[]

Wayne Wheeler, leader of the Anti-Saloon League, was a staunch prohibitionist since he was a child. One day on the family farm, Wheeler was accidentally stabbed with a hayfork by an intoxicated field worker. This put him off alcohol is entire life. Throughout his life he would use the power of mass media, or direct persuasion to influence politicians to support the passing of the 18th Amendment, which banned the making and consumption of alcohol. He would use bribery, coercion, or blackmail to convince others to follow his agenda. He did help the Amendment pass, but due to the difficulty of enforcement and his own rigid beliefs, he was unable to keep his influence and retired. He later suffered several person tragedies, like losing his wife to a kitchen fire, his father-in-law when he tried to rescue her, and then died in a sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan of kidney disease.

Effects[]

When pricked by the prongs of the hayfork, the user will eventually gain incredible persuasive power. Unfortunately, the side-effect is immediate. The user will violently eject alcohol in all forms from the body.

Collection[]

Collected from field-hand in Iowa. After receiving a minor flesh would from the hayfork, he became violently ill and was rushed to a hospital. He was later released, surprisingly without having to pay, and went on a shopping spree, convincing store owners that they should just give him free merchandise. Artie had to neutralize the artifact while the suspect slept, to avoid becoming enthralled.
