Origin[]
Waverly L. Brown (1935 - 1981) was a Nyack, New York police officer, the first African American police officer, who was killed in the line of duty during the infamous 1981 armed robbery of a Brinks Armored Car. Several members of the Black Liberation Army ambushed the armored car and they were in turn chased by four police officers, including Brown. At first a single woman came out of their vehicle, a U-Haul truck, holding her hands up, causing concern as the officers thought that they had the wrong truck. Then the back burst open and several men came out, opening fire. Brown was struck several times and although he appeared to be hit in a vital spot he managed to stay alive just long enough to tell his wife that he loved her. Once he had told her, he died from a bullet wound to the heart.
Effects[]
If shot, the badge bends the bullet's trajectory away from the target and into the next closet person. When shot, the user doesn't feel anything, but someone standing near them will feel the impact.
