A chair whose twisted appearance oddly reflects its sinister abilities.

Origin[]

Reports from China about people dying in reform camps are not uncommon, though it is difficult to discover the truth behind the events. One teen in 2019 died three days after being sent to an addiction rehab camp. His parents were able to see his body, which was covered in external and internal injuries. Unfortunately, the cause of death was not known, though the camp was "under investigation by police".

Effects[]

Although the exact effects are unclear, reports that have slipped out indicate that the effects likely involve the chair making the victim more susceptible to persuasion from those who speak to them. Those who resist the persuasion seem to suffer physical injuries that worsen over time.

History[]

The first report of this artifact came from the CIA in the 1960s, where reports that the Soviet Union was using a twisted chair to attempt to persuade spies or punish internal enemies came through. A picture of the chair was able to be sent back to the CIA, though the undercover spy did not make it.

The Warehouse became aware of the artifact at the same time, though collection of such artifacts was near impossible due to the poor relations between the two countries. Several decades later, reports of similar activity came from China starting in the mid-1980s. Although the Warehouse has a strong idea of the effects, it is unable to either confirm the effects or that every reported death is caused by the same artifact. At present, the artifact is suspected to still be in China.
