Origin[]
Thomas Tsunetomi Noguchi (野口 恒富) is a former Chief Medical Examiner-Coroner for the County of Los Angeles, who served in that position from 1967 to 1982. Known as the "coroner to the stars", he determined the cause of death in many high-profile cases. He is most famous for performing autopsies on Marilyn Monroe, Robert F. Kennedy, Sharon Tate, William Holden, Natalie Wood, John Belushi, and Gia Scala. In 1999 he was honored by the Emperor of Japan who awarded him the Order of the Sacred Treasure for "outstanding contribution to Japan in the area of forensic science". Effects[]
When worn, the badge allows the user to determine the cause of death with a single glance at a body. It should be taken off prior to meals.
Collection[]
When agents were sent to see whether Thomas had created or come to possess artifacts that needed collecting, they discovered the minimal downside the badge possessed. In addition, as the badge was a very high honor bestowed upon Noguchi, he would not willingly give it up. So, agents Berring and Nielson conceded that the artifact should remain with him, as it could continue to help later in life if he were ever needed again as a CME, though Noguchi was sworn to secrecy about its effects, and allowed that it would be collected upon his passing.
