Origin[]
As act of protest Thich Quang Duc (1897 - 1963) willingly became a martyr by being driven to the center of the road outside of the Cambodian embassy in Saigon. Taking a seat and squeezing his prayer beads, he allowed his fellow monk to pour gasoline over his body. Uttering one last prayer, he withdrew a Buddhist candle and lit it. Holding it for one second he closed his eyes and let it tumbled from his hands setting himself on fire.
Effects[]
The determination that came from Duc and the desire he and his fellow monks held for change created one of the oddest cases of suicide by fire. The candle remained intact after the fire taking in that emotion into the candle. Autopsies after the fact, from victims of the candle, show the same effects of cremation.
Collection[]
Once a year the candle must be lit, June 10th, from 1:30 pm - 6 pm, whichever time zone the artifact is in. Otherwise the candle itself will spontaneously combust.
