Plot[]
Tom Clancy's The Hunt for Red October was Clancy's debut novel. It follows a CIA analyst who leads a group of US Naval officers to take possession of a cutting-edge Soviet nuclear submarine from twenty six defecting Soviet officers. The main characters are the submarine captain Marko Ramius and Jack Ryan, a Marine turned CIA analyst. When Ramius decides to abandon orders he takes the super powerful submarine to America to join forces with them. However the submarine 'Red October' has innovative stealth technology making it virtually invisible. When an American sub briefly detects the Russians presence the CIA sends out Jack Ryan fearing that Ramius might be launching an attack on the U.S.
