Location and History[]
The Disney Vault was not a section previously located within the Warehouse walls. It was actually housed at an off-base location, inside of Disneyland. This was because the special set of artifacts it contained release heavy waves of inspiration into those nearby. However, this high amount of brain activity also leads to burn outs, addictions or insanity. For those reasons, the artifacts were not kept in the Warehouse to leave some of the agents’ sanity intact.
Former Agent Walt Disney said he would take in these certain artifacts and hide them from the world like the Warehouse, but on a smaller scale. These mind altering artifacts have been the source of inspiration for many animators and artists. All of the artifacts housed have coincidentally each given rise to a Walt Disney Animation Studios film.
However, the regents of the Warehouse in 2013 decided it was too risky to keep such a large amount of artifacts outside complete Warehouse supervision so close to the public. Several agents were sent to Disneyland and successfully retrieved all the accounted for artifacts, along with some more the 'caretakers' of the vault acquired. It was revealed the vault had been compromised and although the culprits escaped before being identified, no artifacts were missing from the vault. In fact, some more artifacts were brought in by the anonymous group for security purposes and were subsequently recovered.
The contents of the vault now reside in their own quarantined sector to minimise the effect of the inspiration waves.
This section is named for the real Disney Vault, a term for a collection of 16 Disney original films that are only released for sale every 7 to 10 years.
