An ancient Egyptian Soul artifact

Origin[]

According to the Ancient Egyptians, the human soul was composed of a multitude of parts. The Ren, or rn, is a person's name, and as long as that name is spoken and remembered, the soul will continue to live. The practice of adding or removing names from monuments were very much efforts in instilling immortality, or destroying souls.

This latter concept is usually illustrated best with Akenaten, the 10th ruler of the 18th Dynasty in mid 1300 B.C.E., who was discredited after his death and largely stricken from historical records as the country looked down upon his efforts to remove polytheism from the region and instill a religion called Atenism. When the 19th Dynasty began, Akenaten and his descedents were then considered enemies of the state and further removed from records.

Effects[]

While in contact with the statue, and uttering Ren, the artifact reveals to the holder their true name. However, this knowledge can and most likely will drive the user insane.

Collection[]

Collected by Aden Taylor while hunting for another artifact that had brought someone back to life. He made contact with the accompanying Ba artifact and accidentally activated it, revealing his almost completely pure soul. He promptly purchased and bagged the whole set.
