Origin[]
Daniel Swarovski (1862 – 1956) was an Austrian glass cutter and jeweler. His father was a Slovak glass butter who owned a small glass factory and Swarovski first learned the art of glass-cutting there. In 1892 he patented an electric cutting machine that facilitated the production of lead crystal glass jewelry. Lead glass is a variety of glass in which lead replaced the calcium content of the typical potash glass. One of his last pieces was a butterfly pedant which was so lifelike that most people held their breath when viewing afraid of it flying away. Due to an unknown event Swarovski's butterfly's wings actually do flap when breathed on. When the wings flap a tornado forms somewhere else in the world, the first time it occurred it created the Great Tri-State Tornado.
The Great Tri-State Tornado is the deadliest tornado in US history. It is the most exceptional tornado of a major outbreak of at least twelve known significant tornadoes across a large portion of the Midwestern and Southern US. The Tornado, by itself, killed six hundred and ninety five people. The one hundred and fifty one to two hundred and thirty five mile track left by the tornado was the longest ever recorded as it crossed from southeastern Missouri, through southern Illinois then into southwestern Indiana. The Tri-State Tornado was listed as a F5 class tornado, the maximum damage rating issued.
