Origin[]
Stanley Kramer was a film producer and director who made his movies demonstrate social issues that all other movies avoided all together. He addressed racism in The Defiant Ones and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, nuclear war in On the Beach, greed in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, creationism vs. evolution in Inherit the Wind and fascism in Judgement at Nuremberg. His body of work, much of it considered controversial by some, have now grown into beloved classics.
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is a comedy about a group of strangers who race against each other to find a deceased man’s $350,000 hidden somewhere “under a big W”. This film featured as many comedians and comics of the 1960s as they could possibly fit in, which has led it to being one of the best comedy films ever produced.
