Origin[]
Stan Lee is a comic book writer who wrote many of the most popular characters for Marvel Comics. Working with artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, Lee created Spider-Man, Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men, Daredevil, Dr. Strange and many more. His characters were popular because they appeared as three-dimensional people with real struggles and aspirations rather than only crime fighters. Considered as the iconic name of Marvel comics, he has made cameos in the majority of live-action adaptations of Marvel titles.
Effects[]
When the Pen is held by a user and they say the word "Excelsior!", the user develops a mutation that gives them "superpowers". The mutations are random with each use, and the downsides experienced vary by the mutation; more powerful mutations generally have more severe downsides, which can include intense pain in various body parts. Generally, the mutation's downsides will reverse upon neutralization, though lingering pain can happen.
Collection[]
Collected by Agent Arthur Nielson in June 2001 from San Diego, California after reports of people with superpowers began popping up.
