A tablet that is connected to the Nose of the Sphinx, which is stored nearby.

Origin[]

The Sphinx, properly known as the Great Sphinx of Giza, is one of Egypt's oldest monuments. The year it was built is unknown. Some scholars argue it was built by Pharaoh Khafre (c. 2558–2532 BC), while others argue that it was he who discovered it, already built and half-buried in sand. It is also a matter of debate as to when the nose was lost, and by what means.

Effects[]

Causing damage to the tablet causes damage to the Sphinx, which is how the nose fell off. The artifact can be repaired, though the repairs to the Sphinx only apply to damage done by the artifact and of the parts that are present.

Collection[]

Records from Warehouse 2 indicate that this artifact had been created well before the Warehouse was in Egypt. It was apparently used during the reign of the Pharaoh Ptolomy III Euergetes, in 245 BC, by a disgruntled Egyptian mother who was upset that her son died in the Third Syrian War. In response, she found the Tablet and used it, unknowingly destroying much of the Sphinx at the time. The Warehouse managed to find the tablet and repair it using a newly discovered artifact, simply called the "Repair Tools", and found that all damage to the Sphinx was fixed. However, while in transit with the artifact, it was stolen by thieves and went missing.

It reappeared during the time of Warehouse 5, when the Warehouse received reports of a Tablet which caused damage to the Sphinx of Giza. Travelling there, they discovered that the Nose and Beard of the Statue had fallen off. Not realizing that there was an artifact to repair the Tablet, they took the Tablet back to the Warehouse. They also took the Nose when it was discovered that the Nose could cause damage to the Tablet.

When the records were recovered from Warehouse 2 in 2011, a search was ran through the Database to see if the artifact known as "Repair Tools" mentioned in Warehouse 2 might have been collected by some other Warehouse, as no such artifact was found among their inventory. Although several repair tools had been collected that might have existed around the time of Warehouse 2, none of them appear to have any effect on the Tablet in tests, indicating that either the correct artifact has not been collected or that the Tablet is missing pieces necessary to repair it.

Storage and Handling[]

Stored in the Ancient Archives' Sixteenth Level. Kept on separate shelves due to disagreement between the artifacts on being too close in proximity.

Neutralizer gloves are mandatory. Special care is necessary when moving these artifacts, as they are easily damaged if dropped.
