Origin[]

The January 2016 United States blizzard was a major blizzard that affected numerous states on the east coast. It caused 55 deaths, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages. Over 100 million people were affected by the blizzard in total, and it was the first Category 5 winter storm in five years. This jack-in-the-box was previously an innocuous Christmas decoration before somehow absorbing the power of the blizzard.

Effects[]

When fully cranked, and the snowman pops out of the top of the box, a blizzard spawns from the box and grows outwards at a fast pace. It can eclipse a small town in around two hours. To stop the blizzard, the lid has to be shut, which will cause the blizzard to immediately dissipate and the snow to melt, although any damage is not fixed. It cannot just be neutralised, the effects will persist as long as the box is open.

Collection[]

The 2016 blizzard had somehow caused this basic Christmas decoration in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to become an artifact, although it remained inactive for a while as the owners had no reason to interact with their Christmas decorations post-January. However, after an attic clear-out in June, one of the family played with the jack-in-the-box, revealing it's effects and causing them to flee, leaving the box open in their house. Apprentice agent Mark Monroe and senior agent Pete Lattimer were sent to investigate. As the blizzard dissipated outwards in a circle, the artifact's location was able to be pinpointed at the centre of the blizzard, in the house. Mark used Molly Williams' Apron to reach the jack-in-the-box and close it, marking the first time he had actively used an artifact in the field.
