Origin[]

Sinon was a Greek warrior during the Trojan War mentioned as a treacherous agent of the Greeks who misleads the Trojans, encouraging them to bring the Trojan Horse inside the city. He sometimes appears in art, usually being dragged into Troy as a captive, with the horse behind him. This scene is in neither the Iliad nor the Odyssey but is in the Aeneid; it is central to the perspective Virgil builds, in support of the actual Roman sentiment, of the Greeks as cunning, deceitful, and treacherous.

Effects[]

Allows for a clear or obvious lie to be taken as truth by any group of people. It has to be about the same subject each time, although the details can differ. Throngs of level-headed thinkers will trust in the story told even if evidence simply states otherwise. Will not be able to sway every person to the lie; makes them suffer unfortunate accidents or plain indifference to continue the charade.
