Origin[]

The shiro uneri, translated as "white undulation" is known to the Warehouse only by the accounts of Toriyama Sekien, who received the reports from the temple which currently contains the artifact. The monks of the temple were summoned by reports of an entire castle staff found in various states of unconsciousness surrounding the kitchen, with two dead at the scene. Any further origins of the artifact are unknown, but given its effects it seemed unlikely it travelled far from its source.

The name and location of the temple are unknown, and no further references to the event were discovered in historical records. Retrieval is considered unlikely, but low priority due to the lack of repeat events.

Effects[]

Based on the report by Sekien, the shirouneri is a cloth or dishrag that seems to target the heads of its victims. Illustrations depict it as a dragon or serpent-like entity flying through the air, possibly indicating a form of self-propulsion. He notes that it was said to enshroud the head, overwhelming the victim with the overpowering stench of a century of grime and mildew until they pass out from the stench, whereupon it would release its hold and remain inert until a new target presented itself.

The multitude of victims having only two fatalities in its number suggests its actions are not intended to be fatal, and the deaths may have been caused by either repeat attacks cutting off air supply or unfortunate accidents while the victim was collapsing.
