Origin[]
Shang Rang was a major follower of the agrarian rebel leader Huang Chao in the late ninth century in China. Under his commend, Shang Rang carried several distinguished titles, continuing after Chao declared himself the Emperor of the newfounded state of Qi. As Huang neared defeat in 884, Shang defected to the Tang Dynasty and participated in the destruction of Huang's army. Shi Pu, leader of the Tang, eventually killed Shang himself.
The shield was one used by a soldier under Shang Rang's command during the ill-fated battle of Yijun Camp, where an unexpected snowstorm cause the freezing deaths of up to 30% of his forces.
Effects[]
When the shield is slammed against the ground it unleashes a blast of freezing air and show, cold enough to glaciate a three meter area around the point of impact. It offers no protection to the holder though, so survival is unlikely for anyone caught in the effect.
