Origin[]

Shamu is the name used for several SeaWorld orca shows and is the stage name given to the 'star' of those shows. The original and first Shamu first performed in the late 1960s until she passed in 1971. Shamu is more so the name of the tank where these orcas or killer whales who are performing habitat so any killer whale who is in the tank at any time is considered to be Shamu. Between the years of 1984 and 2010 there have been eight major show incidents where trainers of the killer whales were seriously hurt. It wasn't until 2010 when the Shamu tank claimed its first death when Dawn Brancheau was pulled down by Tilikum who was performing as Shamu at that time. Even though Brancheau had extensive training experience she drowned with dozens of tourists watching.

The very first time that someone was hurt by Shamu the trainer was grabbed and slammed into the wall of the tank which cracked it. When Agents went into the pool, wearing diving gear, they could feel the crack but no water escaped and instead of being white the crack lines were black. It is believed that the anger that the whale had was transferred into the tank through the crack thus making it an artifact.

Collection[]

There is a pool in Artie’s office where once a year two agents are picked to go to SeaWorld to apply a waterproof neutralizer to the tank and enjoy a day off at the park.
