Saint Valentine is a third century saint recognized as the patron of love and marriage. He is commemorated every February 14, possibly from an attempt to replace pagan holiday Lupercalia. Little is reliably known about Valentine, and myths may have unintentionally conflated together several unrelated figures. Most sources do however agree he was a practicing Christian in the Roman Empire who cured either a judge or jailor’s daughter of incurable blindness. Some legends state he married couples to avoid being conscripted into war, others that he tried to convert the emperor and was beheaded for his actions. Another believes he was imprisoned for not worshipping the gods, and left a note for the jailer’s daughter signed “Your Valentine”.

Wearing while near at least two people will cause the ring to glow and identify what type of bond is most applicable to the pair. It starts by shaking around in the setting and quickly displaying a crude picture of each person. Red means mutual love, while blue indicates only one party interested. Purple is a sign of general appreciation and caring for others, while orange shows self-interest. Green signifies friendship and yellow hues mean only interest in application for one’s own goals.
The amount of each color relates to the approximate strengths of each characteristic. Causes the wearer to become momentarily blind during use until the effect becomes permanent.
