Roger Bacon was an eminent scientist and scholar in 13th century England. He introduced many scientific concepts to the British as topics worthy of research, such as optics, mechanics, pyrotechnics, astronomy, medicine and alchemy. Bacon also widely supported using scientific methods to measure phenomenon rather than just assuming what occurred. Due to his support for scientific and educational reform, many considered him to be some type of wizard that possessed a mechanical talking head and forbidden knowledge.
