Origin[]
Pykrete was invented a substitute material for steel during the shortage of steel for the Allies to build warships. Made of 14% sawdust and 86% water, when frozen, it was significantly stronger and melted slower than regular ice. Promoted by Lord Mountbatten, he demonstrated its strength by firing a bullet into a block of ice and pykrete; the ice shattered, while the bullet ricocheted off the pykrete, grazing the pants leg of an admiral and embedding itself in a wall.
The British had planned to build an aircraft carrier entirely out of pykrete, codenamed Project Habakkuk, to attack German U-Boats in the Mid-Atlantic. The project was ultimately scrapped during wartime, but a destroyer warship had been successfully made, headed by the inventor of pykrete, Geoffrey Pike.
Effects[]
A destroyer warship made of pykrete that was intended for military purposes before the operation was terminated. It freezes the water behind it, preventing it from being followed and is installed with 8 cannons that fire super cooled water that freezes on contact. Will cause hypothermia and gangrene if used on someone directly.
