Origin[]
Pontius Pilate was the fifth prefect of the Roman province of Judaea from 26 – 36 AD. He was best known today for the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In all four gospel accounts Pilate lobbies for Jesus to be spared his execution and acquiesces only when the crowd refused to relent. He attempted to avoid personal responsibility for the death of Jesus by washing his hands to show that he has cleaned his conscience from the execution.
Effects[]
Using stains hands with blood if guilty of betraying someone (Good Friday)
