Origin[]
Philip Astley was an equestrian rider who created the concept of the modern circus. He included disparate novelty performance acts such as musicians, clowns, animals, oddities and acrobats together to form a cohesive program meant to entertain audiences. Astley's Amphitheatre and subsequent circuses were built across Europe for both royalty and commoners.
Effects[]
Pitching the main tent only will attract ground acts such as animal breeders, magicians, clowns and even comedians. Setting up the top will also bring in acrobats, musicians, marksmen and stunt performers.
