Origin[]
Peter Kurten (1883 - 1931) was a German serial killer known as The Vampire of Dusseldorf. As a killer he targeted and killed at least nine children under the age of seventeen. Often he would break into the home of his targets and stab them in their sleep. On several occasions he sliced the throat after death in order to drink their blood. This along with the town he killed in, Dusseldorf, was how he got the nickname. Before turning to murder Kurten was a thief, using a skeleton key to break into houses, when he discovered a child within the home he allowed himself to kill and drink from his victims.
