Origin[]
Okita Sōji was the captain of the first unit of the Shinsengumi, a special police force in Kyoto during the late shogunate period. He was one of the best swordsmen of the Shinsengumi. During one encounter between the Shinsengumi and masterless ronin, Sōji collapsed in a fainting spell, possibly brought on by his tuberculosis or a heat stroke.
Effects[]
When passed between the shinai’s current owner and their subordinates and/or colleagues, those in the group will have specific combat skills enhanced. Each person will become a nigh-master at one skill, making the group a formidable challenge when together. The sword also temporarily removes any physical pain, exhaustion or sickness from the affected. These ailments are stored within and are released when back in possession of the owner. After a time delay, the wielder will experience a brief but heightened version of a sickness.
