Origins[]

The origins of the artifact are unknown, but it was recovered from the city of Oaxaca in Mexico and was presumed to have been 'born' there.

Mentioned in the tie-in novel, "A Touch of Fever".

Effects[]

When the pinata is burst open, it releases an explision of confetti that completely obscures the environment. When it settles, the area will have been transformed into a Spanish Fiesta, complete with food, outfits for all in the area and decorations. The sound of a mariachi band will begin to eminte from an unidentifiable source. The layout of the environment does not change, although there tends to be a more windswept look to everything and the temperature increases to sub-desert levels.

During this time, the pinata will reformand animate, and will attempt to avoid the party-goers. The reason for this is simple, the party only ends when the pinata is broken again. Any attempt to end the party by removing decorations or attempting to leave (without intent to return shortly, the artifact can somehow tell) will be met with passive resistance dealt out in various ways. Once the pinata is found and broken again, the fiesta will be re-absorbed as if by a vaccum and the pinata will re-formin it's non-animate state.

Permission for recreational use it allowed by the regents as long as more than five partiers make a joint request.
