Origin[]

Nikolai Ivanovich Yezhov or Ezhov, was a Soviet secret police official under Joseph Stalin. Among art historians, he has the nickname "The Vanishing Commissar" because after his execution, his likeness was retouched out of an official press photo; he is among the best known examples of the Soviet press making someone who had fallen out of favor "disappear". This last known photograph of Nikolai Yezhov with Joseph Stalin, both smiling at the camera, is the only photograph personally kept by Stalin with Nikolai in it.

Effects[]

Imbued with the soviet's attempt at permanently erasing him from ever being affiliated that moment, it has the power to erase a person's memory completely, even childhood memories. This memories will never be recovered and it is almost impossible for the victim to make new memories.

Sometimes, the artifact won't erase everything in the victim's memory and will retain some bits of their life before being affected.

Agents have reported hearing faint whispers that are sometimes audible when the photograph is neared. Rumors on what the whispers are include conversations of Nikolai Yezhov's to the memories of those affected by the artifact.

  • This is a Class F-1 Artifact and must be viewed only with protective goggles and a blank mind. It is also categorized as a Class P artifact due to its negative downsides activated by proximity.
