Origins[]
Neil Harbisson is known as an artist and cyborg. He has achromatopsia, a condition where his natural range of color perception is blacks, whites and grays. To counteract this, Harbisson became the first person to wear an eyeborg, a cybernetic attachment that lets a person perceive color through sound. When his passport needed to be renewed, he was denied the ability to be photographed with his eyeborg; it was later allowed. This was one of the early versions of the eyeborg.
Effects[]
The eyeborg lets the user view colors through sound, being useful to persons colorblind or with achromatopsia. However, after use, a non-colorblind person is only able to see in black, white and gray and a color vision impaired person having their condition turn back to normal.
Trivia[]
- The eyeborg was seen by Myka when her and Pete were being pelted by the Baylor Dodgeball, the eyeborg later being moved to the Health Section.
