OriginEdit

The legend of Chloe is different depending on who is telling it. Key players however are Clark Woodruff, owner of the plantation, his wife Sara Mathilda and their three children: Cornelia Gale, James and Mary Octavia. Clark forced Chloe to become his mistress and in her naivety she believe that her master really loved her. Trying to "free" her master from the chains of his wife and children she baked them a birthday cake containing extract of boiled and reduced oleander leaves, which are extremely poisonous. Only Sara, Cornelia and Mary ate the cake and all of them died. Clark and James were furious and to prevent punishment the other slaves took Chloe and hung her until she was dead.

EffectsEdit

In the minutes where she was hanging, dying, it was said that Chloe could see Clark through one of the windows looking at her with indifference. The emotions that she felt in those last seconds went into the rope that hung her. Originally she was buried, with the noose, on the property however paranormal activities started to occur, a ghostly image of Chloe could be seen wandering the halls and her wails heard at night. The slaves dug her up and threw her body into the river, leaving the noose behind which is why the activities continued.
