Origin[]

Painted in 1952 by proprietor of the Univille Bed and Breakfast (named Mungo's B&B at the time) Mungo Malfred. He had been the caretaker of the Warehouse's official Agent residence since 1931 and had dedicated host of his life and energy to the upkeep of the property and the well-being of its residents. An amateur artist in his spare time, he spent three years slowly working on and perfecting this painting of the downstairs living room. Once complete, it was hung in the same room it depicted.

Mungo would state often that he'd work the B&B until his last breath, and he did. He died peacefully in 1996 at the age of 82, a rare fate for someone so tied to the Warehouse. For his 65 years of service he was granted a state funeral with full honors befitting a servant of the United States. It was at the funeral reception, which took place in the home he'd devoted his life to, where the artifact activated for the first time.

Nearing the end, as the first guests attempted to leave for home, they found that exiting the front door deposited them from the upstairs linen cupboard. This caused a small panic among the attendees, many of whom started testing the other doors and windows to no avail. The commotion from inside attracted the attention of the guests mingling outdoors who also became trapped upon entering the building. It wasn't until a young girl around the age of five, the granddaughter of the new proprietor, pointed out the painting on the wall that things began to click.

The painting, typically overlooked due to it's out-of-the-way position on the wall, had changed slightly to reflect the state of the room. Glasses on the tables matched perfectly with those on the paintings, as did the contents of the coat rack and the curtains that had been newly installed the week before. Neutralizer was procured from the emergency tank kept of site and the painting was successfully neutralized by Agent Fishings, who had it safely transported to the Warehouse.

Things did not end there, however. A week after its storage, several alarms were triggered. The Warehouse had gone through a small unplanned expansion (by .78 acres) and several crates and shelves had been disturbed around the Art Gallery. Several agents rushed over, only to find a full-scale replica of the B&B where Mungo's painting had been shelved. The rest of the artifacts had been gently moved aside to make room, and there was no structural damage to the surrounding area, the building had simply made room and reformed around the artifact.

An exploration of the building found it to be identical in every way, the decor in the rooms, the way one of them had left a deck of cards on his bedside table that morning. It even had running water and power. It also had the same properties as the first incident, in that no-one could leave until the painting was neutralized. Doing so caused the building to crumble into dried painting oils and the issue was put to rest.

A week later the building was back, exactly the same. The artifact was neutralized again, but regrew the week after. Constant goo-ings were becoming impractical, and the Dark Vault was dismissed as a possibility in case the B&B tried to rebuild inside. In the end, since the artifact was benign and simple enough to escape by a sufficiently prepared agent, it was allowed to stay. A perfect copy of the B&B has stood in the Warehouse since.

Effects[]

When active, it turned the entire building of Mungo's Bed and Breakfast in Univille into a recursive zone, with escape becoming impossible. Once removed from the building and relocated to the Warehouse the artifact manifested an exact construct of the building on site, gently rearranging the surrounding shelves to make space. This facsimile of the B&B was identical to the original down to the knick-knacks in the shelves and possessed the same recursive properties.

In 2009 it was accidently entered by some new agents, where it was discovered that the interior of the B&B has updated itself to match its counterparts more modern look. It was also discovered that directly altering the painting itself causes changes in the structure of the room, allowing the agents to escape when they ripped a hole in the painting (and wall). The wall appears to have gradually repaired itself, though the door to the building has refused to open for the responsible agents since.
