OriginEdit

This handgun prop was used during the Season 2 finale of The O.C. Mischa Barton's character, Marissa Cooper, is forced to fire a gun to stop a fight between two other characters. When the gun was fired, the scene slows down, and Imogen Heap's song "Hide and Seek" was played over it, effectively downplaying what should have been a dramatic and shocking moment. Ever since then, the scene has been the subject of countless parodies and references, including the "Dear Sister" skit from Saturday Night Live.

EffectsEdit

When the gun is fired, "Hide and Seek" will beging playing until its completion. The song will start over every time the gun is shot, and if it is shot in rapid succession, the music will beging to overlap with itself. It also causes dramatic moments to lose their tension and emotion.
