Melbourne MacDowell (1856 - 1941) was an American stage and screen actor. His first play was acting opposite Adelaide Neilson in the Shakespeare play As You Like It. From the stage he transitioned into acting in silent films in 1917. Featuring in sixteen moves he played opposite from other actors such as Lon Chaney and Enid Bennett along with many others. Unlike other actors his career ended when the era of silent films ended. One thing that MacDowell was notorious for was his smoking habit, going through at least a full pack a day.
