Origins[]

The aulos, also known as a double flute, was said to have been created by the goddess Athena. However, when she played, she was made aware that her cheeks puffed up when she played, making her cast the instrument away. The satyr Marsyas found the flute and became extremely adept at its use. His hubris moved him to challenge the god of music, Apollo, against his lyre, and the contest was to be judged by the Muses. Of course, Marsyas lost, and his hide was removed and pinned to a tree, while Marsyas himself was flayed alive.

Effects[]

When played, the user gains immense talent in its use. However, they will be filled with hubris, and will challenge any and all in a musical contest. If they lose, the user will experience the sensation of being flayed alive, resulting in death.
