Origin[]

Marion Davies (1897 – 1961) was an American film actress, producer, screenwriter and philanthropist. She was there when movies transitioned from silent films to movies with sound. At first was afraid due to a childhood stutter however with help from co stars such as Clark Gable, Bing Crosby and Gary Cooper she overcame it. Eventually she retired from acting and took to donating money to charities and having a love affair with William Randolph Hearst and even though the two were in love Hearst couldn't marry Davies because his wife at the time refused to divorce him. After a hard marriage later to Horace Brown and being diagnosed with stomach cancer Davies spent the later days of her life reliving old movies in her Santa Monica home. She was purported to have died from stomach cancer and was buried in Hollywood however Agents discovered that her agent came into the viewing room to find one of her old movies playing but Davies simply gone. In order for her friends and those she touched with her generous ways to have closure her agent agreed to a funeral.
