Origin[]
Margaret Sanger was a nurse and proponent of birth control. She believed that the betterment of society depended on a woman's right and responsibility to choose when to have children. She was also a eugenicist who believed that the mentally ill or those with hereditary mental or physical impairments should be sterilized for the good of the nation. Despite her stances on eugenics, she was against the Nazi regime's use of genetics, deeming it inhumane.
