Origin[edit | edit source]
Montague Rhodes James - purveyor of the modern ghost story. First and foremost a medieval scholar and university provost, James used his knowledge to update the supernatural for the early 20th century. Many chronicled quiet English villages and esteemed institution following an old scholar and some object that acted as a tether for spirits. Written mostly as Christmastime chatter, James projected an eerie atmosphere on every tale by suggesting cosmic horrors against the backdrop of violence.
Effects[edit | edit source]
Allows one to craft the perfect ghost story, capable of scaring any listeners no matter their bravery. Stories are most potent when told or read in the presence of a fire, but this is discouraged: Stories have the potential to induce intense nightmares, heart attacks, comas, and turn listeners' hair white.
