OriginEdit

The Kaz II, also known as the ghost yacht, is a 9.8, meter catamaran found drifting 88 nautical miles (101 miles) off the north-eastern coast of Australia on April 20th 2007. The fate of her three-man crew was unknown. An aircraft noticed it sailing the vicinity of the Great Barrier Reef and was worried that the boat was going to strike the reef and sink. Sending a signal to maritime authorities one of their boats caught up with it and boarded it. Even though the yacht was in serviceable condition and everything was laid out as if they had just stepped out for a smoke no one was around. Food and flatware was set out on the table, laptops set up and running and the engine was still running. Officials also confirmed that the boat’s emergency systems, radio and GPS were fully functional, Akin to that it still had its full complement of life jackets, the anchor was up and there was even a small boat still hoisted on the stern of the boat. The only out of place thing was that the sails were shredded. After an investigation it was determined to be no foul play, because of this it has been called the Modern Mary Celeste.
