Origin[]
At an unknown point in time, this basin was hewn from the shell of what seems to be a Loggerhead turtle. The kanji for "kappa" (河童) is carved on the bottom, hinting towards its potential origin.
Kappa are a type of Japanese water demon known to live in rivers and ponds, drowning people or stealing their life-force. The most common way to defeat a kappa is to trick it into emptying the basin on its head, which it keeps filled with water. If empty, the kappa becomes unable to move until it is refilled.
Effects[]
When the bowl is filled with river water and drunk from the drinker will be able to breathe underwater for a brief time. To maintain the effect, they must pull people underwater and absorb the oxygen from their bodies, drowning the unfortunate victim.
