Origin[edit | edit source]

Known as the "The French Ripper", due to his similarities with Jack the Ripper, Joseph Vacher was a serial killer. Known for his trademark rabbit fur hat, facial scars, and accordion, he was responsible for nearly thirty deaths within the span of three years.

A long-time sufferer of mental illness, Vacher's first murder was a young maid named Louise. After being kicked out of the military after his first attempt at suicide, a reaction to his frustration for a lack of recognition for his perceived superiority, Vacher become obsessed with Louise. Despite her disinterest, Vacher was persistent, even trying to propose to her. After she spurned him, he shot her four times and then attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. He fired off two shots, one lodging in his ear which would remain there for the rest of his life, and the other into his brain, resulting in paralysis on the left side of his face. The damage done to his brain did nothing to improve his mental health.

After another suicide attempt at age 25, Vacher began his murder spree after being released from a mental hospital. Many of his victims, mostly young women and boys, were found raped, disemboweled, or mutilated.

Usage[edit | edit source]

The accordion plays by itself, and if the awful sound of accordion music wasn't enough, those that listen to it will feel compelled to kill others. Once they succeed they will try to kill themselves.

Collection[edit | edit source]

Collected by Vincent Crowley, a Warehouse 12 agent, one day after Vacher's execution by beheading. Claudia has been noted to say that it is no surprise Joseph Vacher became a serial killer. She says, "Anyone who plays the accordion is just a step away from joining a polka band or committing a killer spree."
