Origin[]

In Chicago in 1891, there was a terrible outbreak of cholera and typhoid fever. Although all reasons for contamination have not been identified, it was believed to have been made worse by poor living conditions, unclean water, lack of medical care, and close quarters. The disease spread like wildfire, killing thousands. Some of the most devastated were children, the elderly, pregnant women, and the poor.

Usage[]

The marbles were once used by children in the Chicago area. From out of the blue dozens of healthy children fell ill with cholera and typhoid fever. Many reported winning the marbles in games, but others said that they found the marbles rolling toward them of their own accord, like magic. From back-tracking the spread of infection Agent Wells was able to determine that all of the marbles had once belonged to a boy whom had recently died of an typhoid fever.

The marbles are some-what sentient, and activate in the presence of children. They will roll themselves toward children in the hopes that they will be picked up. Once touched the marbles will then infect the child with cholera or typhoid.

Collection[]

A particularly long collection process, it took Agent Wells the better part of a month to track down all of the marbles. Thankfully she collected them with such speed and vigor that every child was saved. Cataranga noted that due to her love of children she was the perfect person to help. To quote him, "She seemed like a woman possessed. Her fervor for finding the marbles was unmatched by any agent I have ever seen."

Storage and Handling[]

Stored in a think glass jar in the Dark Vault.

Neutralizer gloves are mandatory. While the marbles only activate in the presence of children, it is advised not to open the jar and touch the marbles without gloves, as it is unclear whether or not the marbles could affect adults.
