Origin[]

Dame Jane Morris Goodall, formerly Baroness Jane van Lawick-Goodall, is an English primatologist and anthropologist. Considered to be the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees, Goodall is best known for her 60-year study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees since she first went to Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania in 1960.

Goodall is best known for her study of chimpanzee social and family life. Instead of numbering the chimpanzees she observed, she gave them names such as Fifi and David Greybeard and observed them to have unique and individual personalities, an unconventional idea at the time. She found that "it isn't only human beings who have personality, who are capable of rational thought [and] emotions like joy and sorrow." She also observed behaviors such as hugs, kisses, pats on the back, and even tickling, what we consider "human" actions.

Goodall insists that these gestures are evidence of "the close, supportive, affectionate bonds that develop between family members and other individuals within a community, which can persist throughout a life span of more than 50 years." These findings suggest that similarities between humans and chimpanzees exist in more than genes alone and can be seen in emotion, intelligence, and family and social relationships.

Effects[]

When worn, this artifact endows any member of the "Hominidae" taxon with human-level intellect and behavior. This allows them to process information, emotions and articulate thoughts as well as an average human of their age, including the ability to talk in whatever language they are most exposed to.

The sudden influx of sensory information can be overwhelming, however, and may cause significant distress when the concept of losing this new "humanity" is realized. The artifact can also restore humanity to any being that previously had it, allowing whatever physiological changes to occur that are necessary. It's be noted that the artifact works off the presence of a primate consciousness, and does not take physical form into account when activating.

The battery life is noted to be horrendous, at a maximum of three hours on a fresh cell.
