Origin
James Hutton was a prominent geologist and naturalist who developed the theory of uniformitarianism, which proposed the earth was formed over vast periods of slow geologic change. The features of the crust, such as mountains, plateaus and plains could be accounted for weathering, sedimentation and a molten core, among other phenomena that occurred over eons. Hutton’s philosophy went against both the popular beliefs of all rocks originating from a massive flood (Neptunist) and the relatively young age of the earth (catastrophism).
Effects
Allows the wearer to travel through molten stone, lava and its variants without harm. The superheated fluids will pass through the user like photons, moving through them as if the user were an intangible ghost. However, movement will cause the rock to part around the user’s path. Causes the unmistakable stench of sulfur to constantly follow the user over a very large space.
