Origin[]
Jack Parsons was a rocket engineer who helped found the companies Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the Aerojet Engineering Corporation. He pioneered the use of liquid and solid fuel rockets and sold a JATO design (Jet-Assisted Take Off) to the US military during WWII. Parsons advocacy of newer rocket designs and insistence on space travel helped propel the US space program.
Besides his scientific work, he was also known for his conversion to Thelema, the same religion founded by Aleister Crowley. He was later expelled from his companies for alleged affairs and rituals he conducted. Afterwards, he befriended founder of Scientology L. Ron Hubbard, who defrauded Parson’s life savings and lead to his formal resignation from the Thelemite way. His next role was acting as a consultant on the Israeli rocket program until accused of espionage, forcing him to leave the rocketry field. Parsons died in an at home laboratory explosion, although some suspected foul play.
Effects[]
The engine will impart knowledge and mechanical skill of all types of rocketry and similar propulsion. However, it is advised to remove it from the presence of occult related materials. They seem to excite the particles in materials the user touches, making them more like a rocket burst when ignited. This also affects the user’s body, increasing their explosive potential over time. Oversaturation will lead to either the surroundings or the user exploding apart.
