OriginEdit

Paul Revere wasn't the only famous post rider during the American Revolution. Israel Bissell (1752 - 1823) was another rider however when Revere informed the major players in the war it was up to Bissell to take on the even more daunting task of informing as many as he could. Determination led Bissell to travel non-stop from April 19th to April 24th to warn fellow revolutionaries about the upcoming attack by the British. The impressive journey sent him through sixteen cities up and down the Eastern sea border. Nothing could stop Bissell and his childhood horse Serenity from warning people about the war. Upon arriving in Philadelphia on the last day both horse and rider were exhausted.

EffectsEdit

The sense of determination and concern for people was imbued into the saddle allowing both rider and horse to remain awake and energized. While Bissell had water skins and some dried fruit there was no way to take care of Serenity unless they gave up precious travel time. Bissell was praised for his ride and hospitalized, doctors were surprised at Serenity's condition as she didn't seem that tired however when a stable hand removed the saddle to take better care of the horse she collapsed. Reported state she died of exhaustion.
