Origin[]
Huitzilopochtli is the Aztec deity of war, sun, human sacrifice and the patron of the city of Tenochtitlan. Said to be in a constant struggle with the darkness, he required nourishment in the form of human sacrifices to ensure the sun would survive again and prevent infinite night.
Collection[]
Housed inside of the Great Temple of Tenochtitlan there is a hidden chamber with a decorative stone box which contains a sacrificial bowl filled with human blood. Tourists used to hear chanting once a year and believed an Aztec descendant was refilling the bowl with new blood. Agents are required to use Elizabeth Bathory's Bathtub to refill the bowl once a year.
Effects[]
Must be filled with blood to placate its demands. Spilling will unleash a cosmic cloud that blocks sunlight from reaching Earth for an area 200k square miles (about the size of Spain). Recipients beneath the storm become more aggressive, demanding and violent to emulate the remaining aspects of Huitzilopochtli. Once filled again the cloud vanishes, damage done remains.
Trivia[]
Inspiration for the episode Sunrise of the 2003 Twilight Zone reboot.
