Origin[]
The artist responsible for the chair is unknown. Reports from the storage facility from which it was retrieved mention the artist had created the chair as a modern art project, intending to copyright and mass-produce the design for commercial sale. Given that similar styles would enjoy moderate success a few years later, it is apparent his design was rejected by all manufacturers. The artist left his prototype in storage permanently, allowing his lease to lapse. The artifact activated for what is assumed to be the first time during the week prior to the anticipated sale of the abandoned lots.
Agents Colin Cranston made the trip to Brambur, Massachusetts after reports of the "haunted" storage unit made their way into Warehouse hands. The chair was found to have activated multiple times, seemingly at random and causing significant property damage to the unit and everything in it. The artifact was neutralized and restrained for retrieval, though issues arose when the truck Cranston had hired to transport the artifact was very nearly involved in a major traffic incident after the artifact re-activated itself, severely throwing off the balance of the vehicle.
Cranston was advised by the Warehouse to find a safe place to spend the night while they attempted to determine a safe solution to the problem. This would be the last time anyone saw or heard from the agent, as both he and the artifact were declared officially missing the following day. Both his remains and the artifact would eventually be located and recovered in 2014 from Jhamil Haddir's Ashtray.
Effects[]
The effects of the artifact activate seemingly at random, no discernible pattern has been identified, although periods of inactivity tend to last between 8 and 14 hours. When active, the fingers that comprise the back of the chair will begin to animate, jerking around suddenly in an unnatural way. This movement cannot be halted, due to the intense repellent effect the artifact gives off at the time. This also has the unfortunate nature of repelling neutralizer, prevent the artifact from being safely deactivated.
During its "active" phase, the gravity around the chair becomes increasingly unstable. Objects will be pulled towards it, with the strength of the pull magnifying over the duration of its activity. Pulled-in objects will begin to orbit in a vortex above the chair, with anything escaping the vortex being flung out at considerable force before being pulled back in. These disturbances can last up to an hour, with the force being strong enough to draw in and manipulate objects as heavy as vehicles before suddenly deactivating and allowing everything to drop.
Storage[]
To to its unpredictable nature and unfortunate inability to be neutralized once it has activated, the artifact is stored in the Isolation Chambers to prevent any potential damage to the Warehouse or other artifacts. It has been provided loose papers and foam objects to move around so that its active state is easily observable.
