Origin[edit | edit source]

One of the more revolutionary games of early 3D game was Valve's first-person shooter 'Half-Life'. Playing as scientist Gordon Freeman, you find yourself stuck in the middle of an invasion from creatures from Xen, the survivors of the Black Mesa base, and the impending threat that military will bomb the facility to remove any trace of the incident.

'Half-Life' was praised for telling its story through real-time animation sequences rather than animated cut-scenes, immersing the player deeper into the game play.

One of the weapons that became an iconic staple of this and the second game is Freeman's trusted crowbar that he used as his melee weapon.
